What are the requirements to execute OlapX

You must have installed Pivot Table Service Service Pack 3a for each client using our products. This service is usually installed with Microsoft Office.
You can download it from our web site directly from our web site. Click here to download (13MB aprox) or visit our download page.

Does OlapX keeps an error log

OlapX keeps an error log called OlapXApp.log which usually is stored at the windows directory. This file can be used by our technical support group.

Is there a development version

All our products are based in three almost identical ActiveX controls:
- OlapXApp: OlapX Application is used to created our OlapX Application Suite of products. Although you can develop with this application, it's not recomendable.
- OlapXDev: OlapX Developer is our client server developer control. You can create your own applications and distribute them with this free runtime control.
- OlapXWeb: OlapX Web This control is used in web pages. Giving access to an unlimited number of users.
All controls are identical in functionality, their only difference is in their licensing method.

Is there a web version

Yes. Our OlapXWeb control is a web version.
You can see the control in action in our demo page.
The only limitation of the demo control is that it only opens the http://www.olapxsoftware.com/demo/gs3.cub cube or any related view or portfolio.
If you want to evaluate the control, please download it from our download page and ask us from an eval license.
This control can serve an unlimited number of users from it' web server.

How do I use a single field in two different dimensions when creating cubes?

Choose the database field twice in the choose column section and use each instance of the field in each dimension.

What is the difference of a ROLAP vs. a MOLAP cube

A ROLAP cube or relational cube is a cube that reads its data from the source database, directly where the original database resides. These cubes have always the latest data but are not optimized for multidimensional analysis. A MOLAP cube or multidimensional cube is a cube with its data inside the cube optimized for this analysis. Unfortunately you must refresh your cube one every while. If you want to create a ROLAP cube with our cube creator OlapXACC, see document File or cube output selection for more information.
