In many applications you will want to be able to refresh your cube data without exiting this application, for example when using ROLAP cubes or local cubes. This instruction will go to the cube data source and put the actual database values in the cube, discarding the old values. A ROLAP cube, is a cube whose data is read directly from the data source, for example invoicing systems, will let you see new invoices when they are created.
