Heading area

In a computer screen you can only see a data matrix and not a data cube. If we try to look at a data cube in the screen, the numbers will come one on top of another! That's why in multidimensional cube analysis we have to choose dimensions that will make up the data matrix (2 dimensional matrix) and the other dimensions will form part of the heading area.

The values of each one of these dimensions will form part of the information shown. For example, you can look at sales by product of year 1998.

and very fast, change to year 1997 to obtain the following view:

The mouse operations you can do in this area are:

A Click: it let's you change the value of the heading which click was given to for an element of the data area. When given click to the heading area, the mouse arrow changes in into a diagonal double arrow, and it indicates that we can rotate the cube. When we click in the data area , the cube dimensions will flip. You also can drag a field from the heading area to the data area.

For example, we will change the date Total field for the customer FLE001: Fleet Feet and recieve:

Control click: It works like last operation, but if we press the control key in the second click, instead of rotating the cube, the new dimension will get added or anidated to the dimension in the data area. In the initial cube screen, if we click on Date and then control click on Customers Total we will get the screen below. (You can also drag a field from the heading area to the data area and press control when reeasing the drag):
