Data area

The data area shows the values of the cube view that you want to analyze. It always shows a data matrix.
In the left column and top row are the elements of the dimensions that area in this area and in the center are the numeric cube's values.
With the format view option you can change several format options like colors, fonts, numeric format and do some conditional formatting based in the cube values. You can change the dimension positions with the cube layout dialog and the elements of the dimensions with the dialog Dimension options.

There are some operations that you can do on this area, for example, drill down in a dimension element to see more detailed information, rotate the cube with the Pivot or swapping axis XY dialog. You can write values back to the cube and if you are working in a write enabled cube you can save them permanently. For information about write back instructions: Write values back to the cube.

The operations you can do are: 

Drag a field from the heading area to the data area: You use this function to change a dimension value in the heading area with one dimension element on the data area. Click over a field and click again on it to start dragging. Drop it over a dimension element in the data area and the dimensions will be exchanged. If you press the Control key when dropping the field, the dimension will be added to the data axis selected. Keep reading to obtain more information.

Click in a value of the heading area and then on a dimension element: you rotate the cube this way, by swapping the heading area dimension for the data area dimension. If you press the Control key together with the click in the data area, then the dimension of the heading area will go to the data area together the dimension that was already there. The mouse arrow changes while this operation is in progress to a diagonal with two arrows. See heading area for more information.

Click in the upper left cell : It pivots the cube around it XY axis. See section swap XY axis. For example this cube view:

Control-click in an element where there are more than one dimension : It returns the dimension where the click to the heading area . For example, if we click in dimension Time in value '1998' and swap the XY axis, in two clicks we will get the following cube view:

 Click on a dimension name : The dimension options dialog will appear and will let you change diverse options about how to change the elements of the dimension. For example, we can show only customers (without their total) ordered by descending:
