Pareto options
This
dialog section lets you select how many and which elements we want to see according to certain Pareto
criteria.
Pareto options are applied to either the vertical or
the horizontal axis, regardless of the dimension shown, this means that if
you exchange a dimension from the heading area to the data area, these
options will stay in effect. For example, you are looking at your best 10
customers by product class, if you would like to see them by product
sport, you only need to exchange the place of the class and sport
dimension.

These options can be set either for the vertical or
the horizontal axis. If you choose the vertical axis, you will see
your best or worst record from the dimension in the vertical axis of the
data area, horizontal axis gets the best records of the horizontal axis.
You can choose from four distinct options choose from:
- All elements: No pareto options are set.
- Number of elements: Brings the number of elements specified.
- Sum of values: Brings all the dimension elements needed to fill a
specified value.
- Percentage of values: Bring all dimension elements
until their sum is equal to a certain percentage of their
total.
It's important to know against which
dimension member the function will be calculated. For example, it's not
the same to get the top 5 customers of this year than the top 5 customers
of last year, even if we're not showing years in the cube view. There are
three options that will let you choose against what to compare to:
-
Default values: This options compares
against the top level node from the dimension in the opposing axis.
If you choose Vertical axis, the
dimension value used is the one in the horizontal axis of the
data area.
-
Cube values: Will let you choose a
dimension member from the opposing dimension.
-
All cube fields: Will let you choose one or more
dimension members from the cube, even if it's not visible in the data
area.
Also is possible to choose either the fields with bigger or
smaller value from the Type list.
If you are viewing more than one dimension, you can make the
Pareto function work against sevaral values from several dimensions. Use
the right and left arrow to choose as many values as necessary.
You can set pareto options directly from the popup menu in
the data area, right click on a dimension member and choose option
Pareto options and the pareto function that you would
like to set. This shortcut will used the cell clicked as the comparison
field and if you click on the horizontal data area axis, will set the
pareto axis to vertical. If you click on a vertical data area cell,
the pareto axis will be set to horizontal. See Pareto options menu options for more information.
