Connection preferences

This section of the preferences dialog let's you specify the program default connection. Please choose the connection you wish to use:

  • MS Analysis Services connection: Connects to a Microsoft Analysis Services server. In the server section you can use a server name Measurer or a web address: http://web server/mass.
  • Local file: Use the name of a local cube .cub or a local view .oxv.
  • Web address: A web address comes here. Depending on the address file extension, a different action will happen:
    • .cub: Opens a cube directly
    • .oxv: Opens a cube view
    • .oxb: Opens a portfolio
    Example: http://webserver/cubes/view.oxv
  • Portfolio: Use the name of a portfolio file.
  • Opening cubes: Choose one of the following:
    • Open cubes directly: choose this option to open cubes directly.
    • Open cubes in layout mode: choose this option if you want to open the layout dialog when opening a cube.
  • Cube update options for ROLAP cubes: ROLAP cubes are cubes whose data is gotten directly from the source database and is not kept in the cube. This will let you look at your data as it changes.
    • Choose to update underlying cube data automatically: Each time data is brougth from the cube, the cube data will be refreshed automatically. Click Refresh cube data for more information.

Use the dialog buttons to:

  • Actual: Fills the current connection.
  • Clear: Clears the dialog fields
  • Save: If you press this button, all current values will be save as default.
  • OK: Closes this dialog continuing to work with the current preferences.
  • Cancel: Closes this dialog, but the dialog settings are not kept.

Notes

  • Pressing the save button, your information will be saved as default the next time you open the application, even if you close this dialog with the Cancel button.
  • Depending on your values, the connection values will be tried in the following order: View, file cube, web address, analysis services and portfolio.
