Menu options

This product functionality is available through menu options. These options are:

File
Let you open, save and print cubes and reports. Click in the desired option to get more information:
  • Open cube: open an existing cube in a new window. This button doesn't show in the toolbar by default.
  • Close: closes the current window.
  • Save: saves the view of the current window.
  • Save as: let you save your cube view with another name.
  • Write data to cube: writes the data values changed back to the cube.
  • Update cube data: refreshes the cube underlying source data.
  • Update interval: sets a refresh cube timer so it refreshes automatically every x time interval.
  • Page setup: Shows the page setup dialog. You can configure how your cube views will be printed or exported.
  • Print preview: shows your view in a window, before printing it.
  • Print: prints the current view directly to the printer.
  • Export: exports the view of the current window to HTML, PDF or RTF formats.
  • Exit: finishes this application.
Edit
Lets you copy data and format the cube view:
  • Copy: send the cube data to the clipboard and makes it available to other applications.
  • Paste: copies the clipboard to the cube in write enabled cubes.
  • Cube options: shows a dialog that let you set how to display the data: pareto, order, values.
  • Dimension options: changes options to select how to show dimension data: hierarchies, all fields, properties, etc.
  • Display options: applies format to the cube view (fonts, colors, etc)
View
Shows different parts the window:
  • Toolbar: shows or hides the tool bar.
  • Status bar: shows or hides the status bar.
  • First: moves to the first view in your work sequence history.
  • Previous: moves to your previous view in your work sequence history.
  • Next: moves to your next view in your work sequence history.
  • Last: moves to the last view in your work sequence history.
Portfolio
You can add a set of views to a portfolio, and then use them as a single set:
  • Add slide: adds the current view to your portfolio.
  • Edit: let's you manipulate your current portfolio.
  • Play: shows your portfolio slide by slide.
  • Stop: stops showing your portfolio.
  • First: jumps to the first slide in the portfolio.
  • Previous: goes to the previous slide in the portfolio.
  • Next: goes to the next slide in the portfolio.
  • Last: jumps to the last slide in the portfolio.
Actions
Do different actions or activities that can be done on the current view:
  • Direct MDX: shows the MDX expression that brings data to the cube view.
  • Interactive: changes the driving mode of the application: Interactive or not. You need to have knowledge about MDX expressions.
  • Show elements: shows a windows that let's choose which elements to show.
  • Swap XY axis: rotates the cube around its axes. The vertical dimension becomes horizontal and vice versa.
  • Rotate chart: rotates the chart around its own axes.
  • Layout: changes the cube's face. This operation lets you make several cube rotations in a single step.
  • Preferences: let's you set global settings for the application.
Window
Options to manipulate open cube windows:
  • Cascade: puts windows in cascade style.
  • Tile horizontal: tiles windows horizontally.
  • Tile vertical: tiles windows vertically.
  • Arrange icons: organize minimized windows icons in desktop.
Help
Help options:
  • Contents: shows the help file.
  • About: Shows the about window with the control version information.

Additionally, there is a context menuthat get activated when you click the mouse right button over the a dimension in the data area. This context menu options are:

  • Show/hide elements: let you choose which matrix elements to show and which to hide.
  • Properties: Shows the properties list of the field you clicked.
  • Filter: Lets you apply a quick filter to the data displayed.
  • No order: Shows the dimension fields ordered in hierarchical or alphabetic order.
  • Ascending order: Orders the values of the column or the row clicked from bottom values to top.
  • Descending order: Same as option above, but orders values from top to bottom.
  • Copy: Copy cube data to the clipboard.
  • Paste: Paste values from Excel to a write enabled cube.
  • Freeze: Freezes the grid along the current row or column. Click on a data cell to unfreeze it.
  • Swap X/Y axis: Rotates the cube around its axes. The vertical dimension becomes horizontal and vice versa.
  • Rotate chart: Exchanges the X and Y axes of the chart.
  • Dimension View: Lets you change how to display the values of this axis. See dimension view menu options for more information.
  • Cube View: This option lets you choose which type of data values you can see applying then a formula, for example % of parent. See cube view menu options for more options.
  • Pareto options: It lets you apply some pareto option to the cube data. For example, see the top 80% percent of something. See pareto options menu options for more information.
  • Get details: It's possible to define drill through options with Microsoft Analysis Services. When it's defined, right click on a cube data cell to see it's underlying values, or how this value is composed.
  • Actions: With Microsoft Analysis Services is possible to define action for cube, dimension, cells and data items. Depending on the grid cell clicked, a dialog will appear with the different actions you have.
  • Format (Row/Column/Cell): You can format only certain rows, columns or cells of the data grid. See Formatting individual cells for more information.
  • (Show/Hide) Semaphore Format Here: Applies or hides (if applied) the Conditional format in the row or column clicked. This way the format will only show in all rows or columns clicked, instead than all the data matrix.
