Dimension defaults

&gt;: passes an element from left to right section.&nbsp;Is&nbsp;like&nbsp;double clicking an element of the left side
&lt;: &nbsp;removes the element from&nbsp;the right side.

In this section of the dimension options dialog, you can choose default values for your cube dimensions. This way, each you open your cube, your default values will be shown, instead of the cube defaults. For example, if you open this cube, you will be shown the value for [Customers].[United States] instead of [Customers].[Total].

You can create one cube, and each cube user will see as default their desired values. If you use Microsoft Analysis Manager, you can choose default values for your users in its Analysis Manager.

The left side of the dialog shows the hierarchy of the dimension elements and we can open each level to find more detailed elements. The right side shows the value which will be the default value.

You can use the following buttons to move elements from one side to another:

>: passes an element from left to right section. Is like double clicking an element of the left side
<: removes the element from the right side.

You can click on any dimension member in the data area grid to show the popup menu, choose Dimension view option and select any option, this will be the equivalent of using this dialog tab.
