This screen is used to connect to the source database where the data that will create the cube reside.

The options in this assistant's screen are:

  • Cube's name : This is the nama that the cube will get. There are no restrictions in the name content, but there is the possibility that certain names are invalido, like symbol sequences and such.
  • Data Source: This is an ODBC connection used to connect to the database. Choose a database connection from the list and use the ODBC Administrator from the Windows Control Panel to create a new data source.
  • Update: The button lets you update the ODBC database list. This way, you can create new ODBC sources at any moment.
  • User : If your database connection requieres a user name, type it in this space.
  • Password :  If your database connection requieres a password, type it in this space.
  • OLEDB Conn.: An OLEDB connection string that can be used instead of an ODBC data source. Use Generate to create this string.
  • Generate : Calls the OLEDB data link dialog to choose an OLEDB connection.
  • Database: This is a label which indicates the database type to be used to create the cube. It depends on your database connection and can't be modified. It is used to know which database formulas are presented to the user. See section Database formula to get more information.

Once the application can connect to the database, the  Next button will take us to the assistant's next section: 2. Source database table or file selection.
