10. Dimension and level cube definition.

In this screen you define the cube dimensions. The cubes can have several dimension. Each dimension can have several levels that give form to the dimension. The level will be used to drill-down over a dimension value and see more detailed data, crossing from one dimension level to the next one.

In the image above is shown a TIME dimension, in which you can't add levels and two normal dimension, where you can add more leveles. The list fields are:

  • Dimension / NIvel : Is the dimension or level name used in the cube.
  • Field: Specifies the database field, whose values make the level. If the dimension is a TIME dimension, then it specifies a data Date field which populates the dimension.
  • Type: It's the dimension or level type. The dimension can be regular dimension or TIME dimension, while the levels can be part of a time dimension or GRAND TOTAL type, which specifies the dimensio's grand total.

You can use this section's buttons to:

  • Add Dim: Use this button to add a new dimension at the end of the cube. The Add dimensions dialog will appear.
  • Add Level : Use this button to create a new level in the select dimension. If a level is selected, the a new level will be created after the selected level in the sa,e dimension. The Add levels dialog will appear.
  • Edit : Select a dimension or level from the list and press this button to modify it.Either with the  Add dimensions or the  Add levels dialog.
  • Remove : Select a dimension or level from the list and press this button to remove it from the list. You can't remove a dimension that have levels, with the excepcion of a time dimension.
  • U : Use this button to move a level one place up within its dimension.
  • D : Use this button to move a level one place down within its dimension.

If already are defined at least two dimensions with at least one level each, press the Next button to procees to section 12. FIle or cube output selection.

The Back button will take you to section 9. Creation of the cubes Measures dimension.
